History

Discover Roman Formia

Ancient Formiae was a favourite retreat of wealthy Romans. The Cisternone, a monumental Roman cistern beneath the old town, is one of its most impressive remains; check opening times locally before visiting.

Hike for the view

Above the town, Monte Redentore offers one of the widest views over the Gulf of Gaeta and the islands. It is a proper mountain hike: go with suitable shoes, water and a weather check.
